Journalist Julia Ioffe did a profile of Melania Trump in GQ Magazine and within 24 hours found herself the victim of a barrage of anti-semitic remarks. While there has been no direct link between the comments and Donald Trump himself, the response from his supporters is an unsettling look at what “freedom of the press” could be like under a Trump presidency. Loffe has been subject to hateful tweets, phone calls and emails for the article. Melania responded to the article, which highlighted that she has a half brother that the family is not in contact with and felt she was treated unfairly and that the article was “yet another example of the dishonest media and their disingenuous reporting.” Joya Mia Italiano and Melvin Robert discuss the article and response on the Lip News.
